July 26, 2023 – The internationally renowned Irish folk and popular singer, Sinéad O’Connor, has died at the age of 56. Among her most famous songs, across her 10 studio albums, was the hit Nothing Compares 2 U. Among the more controversial moments of her career was her 1992 ripping of a photo of the pope on Saturday Night Live. She was an outspoken social and political activist throughout her life. The cause of her death remains undisclosed.
