Toronto Summer Music (TSM) announces programming details TSM Free Concert Series

TORONTO (June 13, 2024) – Toronto Summer Music (TSM) announced programming details for the TSM Free Concert Series, presented by TD Bank Group (TD) at the 2024 Toronto Summer Music Festival, which runs July 11 to August 3. The TSM Free Concert Series, features 22 free events including Kids Concerts, noon concerts, masterclasses, sensory-friendly concerts, and SHUFFLE concerts.

KIDS CONCERTS — introduce your children to the amazing world of classical music through our engaging, one-hour concerts especially designed for children ages 5-12. Held at Walter Hall at 11 AM. Tickets for these performances are available as of June 17 (online at www.torontosummermusic.com, by phone 416-408-0208, or in person at the RCM box office, 273 Bloor Street W.)

 

Millan & Faye Wednesday, July 17
Soprano Kyra Millan & pianist Tina Faye invite children and families of all ages into the world of classical music through an engaging concert full of laughter and fun!

 

Canadian Brass Wednesday, July 24
Internationally celebrated brass ensemble, Canadian Brass, bring their charm and humour to the stage to introduce children and families of all ages to brass music!

 

ACADEMY NOON CONCERTS — one-hour concerts that showcase the brilliant performers from the Toronto Summer Music Academy for Emerging Artists, an intensive training program that runs concurrently with the TSM Festival. Held at Heliconian Hall at 12:00 PM.

Xenia Concerts and Toronto Summer Music present: Millan & Faye Saturday, July 20

SHUFFLE CONCERTS – hour-long concerts featuring eclectic programs performed by Festival artists and exciting next-generation stars. Held at Heliconian Hall at 5 PM.

An evening of song and arias, centred around Schumann’s Dichterliebe, presented by mezzo-soprano Alex Hetherington and pianist Vlad Soloviev.

The Taylor Academy Thursday, July 18

A showcase featuring the rising stars of The Taylor Academy.

Sense of a Woman Tuesday, July 23

Violinist Nancy Dahn and pianist Timothy Steeves have won numerous awards in Canada and recognition internationally for their passionate interpretation of both classic and contemporary works. This program of female composers is filled with mystery, drama, and virtuosity, including the masterpiece by the newly discovered 19th century violinist/composer Amanda Maier.

HATCH Ensemble Wednesday, July 24

Continuum Contemporary Music’s HATCH program brings together early career performers and composers for artistic and professional development with a focus on contemporary chamber music.
